PrimeArray Systems Acquires Optical Access International Product Line
July 16, 1999—Woburn, MA—PrimeArray Systems™, Inc. (PrimeArray™) today announced that it has acquired the CD/DVD network storage product lines and all operations of Optical Access International, Inc. of Chelmsford, MA. Under the terms of the sale, PrimeArray is buying all intellectual property, inventory, trademarks, and product lines including its family of industry leading CD-ROM and DVD-ROM network products.
For ten years, Optical Access has been a pioneer in the CD-ROM network storage industry, having developed one of the first CD-ROM towers for the Apple Macintosh. The company produced the first CD-ROM tower to incorporate SCSI multiplexing technology, allowing multiple storage devices to share a single SCSI ID. OAI offered one of the first network-attached CD-ROM servers for PC networks and the very first network-attach CD-ROM server for Apple Macintosh networks.
PrimeArray will continue to develop and support the acquired product lines including the Maxtet/CD, Netserve/CD, and the new ServStation. Products will be available through the company's network of Value Added Resellers, as well as through Apple Computer's Authorized Education Sales Agents.
