Optimized for CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Sharing

PrimeArray’s ServStation offers tremendous value to those who need to store small or large CD/DVD libraries on their network. Powered by a high performance hardware engine running on a streamlined Linux-based kernel, the ServStation provides maximum operational efficiency and reliability. You can add, delete or replace CD/DVD’s on the system faster, easier and less expensively than putting those discs on a general-purpose file server.

How It Works

PrimeArray's ServStation functions by imaging CD and DVD content on to large internal hard-disk drives. The ServStation's integrated thin server shares these CD images over dual gigabit (10/100/1000) Ethernet network interfaces. Simply connect the ServStation to your network, enter an IP address, and use its built-in reader to capture CD/DVD images. You are up and running in minutes. Users see (and read or search) the contents of each disc as with a network file server.

Value of Hard Disk Drive Caching

By imaging the CD/DVDs to a hard disc drive, the system can hold many more titles, support more users, enable multiple discs to be accessed simultaneously, and provide faster access. CD/DVD Towers or Jukeboxes cannot approach this level of service or value. The system automatically saves an exact ISO image of the disc, then creates a folder for the contents and shares those out to users on the network.

Store and Share up to 1500 CD's or DVD's

The ServStation is ideal for CD/DVD collections ranging from a handful of discs all the way up to thousands of CDs or DVDs* (or a mix of both). The ServStation gives you greater breadth of capacity than a jukebox in the size of a breadbox (or desktop tower or rack - depending on the customer requirements).

Highest Performance Levels

The ServStation delivers new levels of performance - up to 250Mbps maximum throughput.

Give Users Access to the Data They Need

Any authorized user on your network can access CD and DVD information from the ServStation without the need for proprietary client software. The information that users need is centrally located at their fingertips and accessible in ways they are already familiar with, such as a share viewable via Network Neighborhood or as a mapped drive off their desktop. No need to go searching for elusive CDs and no additional training is required.

Simplify Administration

All CD/DVD management, security and network settings can be modified remotely from anywhere on the network using a secure interface. If it is more efficient and effective to have the owner of the discs manage them, the disc library no longer requires an IT resource. Updates are quickly posted for all to use. No more time wasted looking for loaned discs or replacing damaged or lost ones. Discs can also be uploaded remotely from users PCs so the system can be physically located in the computer room, but managed from any desktop (using Windows workstation software that comes with the system).

In Microsoft environments, our full Microsoft Active Directory support means no duplicated efforts creating users and groups for the ServStation.

Broad Network Support

Any PC, UNIX or Mac workstation on the network can access the ServStation. This makes the ServStation an ideal central repository of information accessible to those who need it. The ServStation supports Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2000/2003/Vista, Mac OS 9.x/OS X, NFS capable Unix/Linux systems, and Novell over IPX.

Dual Gigabit Network Interfaces

Every ServStation system comes with two 10/100/1000 Ethernet network interfaces. These can be teamed to boost throughput if connected to the same LAN. One interface can be used as a fail-over for the other, giving higher reliability. Or each connection could go to a different LAN allowing the same discs to be shared between two groups. Optionally, a third Gigabit (10/100/1000) Network Interface card (fibre or wire) can be added.

Troublesome CDs

Some CD-ROMs will not work unless they are physically in the local DVD drive. This restriction prevents all Towers, Jukeboxes and most CD/DVD servers from being able to share these titles. However, the ServStation includes unique emulation software to circumvent this restriction by creating a virtual drive locally on the workstation. To applications it appears the disc is in a local physical DVD drive when in fact the disc is shared via the ServStation.

Make Your Own Custom CD or DVD-ROMs

Configure your ServStation with one or two CD-R/RW loader/recorders, dual-layer DVD-R/RW writers, or even Blu-ray (CD, DVD, Blu-ray reader/writers) and create backups of important data or burn your own CD or DVD-ROMs by simply dragging and dropping files across the network.

RAID 0, 1 or JBOD Configuration

The ServStation comes with the ability to confi gure its multiple hard drive systems with a RAID 0 or 1 array. RAID 0 increases data access speed and enables the creation of a maximum sized data volume. RAID 1 mirrors one hard drive disc to another for data protection in the case of a drive failure. In the unlikely event of a hard drive failure, RAID 1 data is protected and the manpower invested in building your digital library is preserved.

Security

Security is designed into the system from the ground up. Access to any disc, group of discs, data folder or file can be controlled precisely as well as the number of simultaneous users of a CD (for license conformity). User or folder level data quotas can be assigned. Manage user accounts locally or through Active Directory.

Pricing

PrimeArray's systems are competitively priced and deliver great value. As every system is configured to meet the customer's requirements, the price varies depending on the configuration. Please contact us to receive a prompt price quote.

Dual Network Interface

The ServStation features dual 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet interfaces that can be configured in any of four methods:

Stand Alone: Both adapters simultaneously receive and transmit data as a two logical channels. Ports can be connected to one or two different subnets.
Fault Tolerance: The second port automatically takes over on upon any failure of the primary connection (cable, adapter or port). If the connection to the primary adapter is restored, control passes automatically back to the primary adapter.
Load Balancing: If data flow increases to one network connection, traffic is automatically redistributed to ensure optimal network performance.
Link Aggregation: Both adapters simultaneously receive and transmit data as a single logical channel. Includes fault tolerance and load balancing. This feature requires a switch that supports Intel Link Aggregation, Cisco FEC, or IEEE 802.3ad (static-mode configuration only).

Management Features

Installation

A static TCP/IP address is initially set via front panel display. Alternately, dynamic IP address may be set using DHCP, ARP, or a Windows software utility. Further network and operational settings are configured using a web-based management interface by entering the ServStation's IP address into a web browser.

Platform Independent Hardware Monitoring

System status may be monitored using multiple notification methods including: email alerts, audible alarm, LCD console messages, web reminders and SNMP traps. Environmental monitoring includes: CPU/System temperature, CPU/System Voltage, CPU fan status.

Software Updates

Flash memory allows remote software updates over the network. Additional features can be added by simply entering a license key
